A Date to be Remembered

A DATE TO BE REMEMBERED

Life goes on without a stop

But some instances stay in our mind

Just like the pearls in the sea.

That day was one such that

A date that was meant to be remembered

By its speciality and preciousness.

It was his 23^rd birthday

When she gave him the best gift

That anyone has ever gifted him.

The couple was in a distant relationship

Without being able to see each other

But still in the bliss of loving each other.

He missed her like crazy

As he tried to concentrate in his job

But was left alone, feeling the void.

He never had anyone to share his thoughts

Except for her who heard him speak

Without any complaints.

She made him happy and jovial

She turned his mundane life

Into an exciting one.

But now he wanted her

Back in his life

Which was incomplete and boring.

He had lost count of days

Which made him forget his birthday

As he treated it as a normal day.

He went to the church

Just as everyday

To pray for her health and happiness.

But she had other plans

For that auspicious day

Which made her heart smile with joy.

She caught the early morning flight

And reached his place

To give him a surprise.

He entered his house

In the evening after work

And saw his place lightened and flowered.

He was surprised seeing his room

Which was uncoloured and dull

Now shimmered and red.

He walked inside slowly

But was interrupted with a guitar stroke

He looked straight to see his bride

Playing her favourite tunes with a dimpled smile.

He stood there still in a euphoric state

As his eyes started shedding tears of felicity

She moved forward keeping the guitar down

And reached his face, caressing it.

She started to cry seeing him cry

And he cupped her face to wipe her tears

She raised herself to reach his height

And kissed his lips with intense pride.

They stayed there kissing each other for a while

After which they cut his favourite chocolate cake

Which she baked with her own hands.

They were both in cloud nine

As they spent a best day of their life.

While watching a movie lying in each other’s arms

He whispered in her ears:

“Thank you for coming into my life

And to give me the best birthday of my life.”

They lived thereafter happily in love

But he remembered his 23^rd birthday forever.
